In Semester 2 2012, Charles Darwin University launched a suite of mobile applications as part of the CDU Mobile project with Blackboard. The CDU Mobile app contains a mobile version of Learnline, as well as a number of other useful apps including:
- staff directory
- maps and places
- emergency contacts
- important links
and other services tailored to the needs of our students as well as staff.
Phase 2 of CDU Mobile has launched in February 2013 with the additions of the following modules:

The Mobile Learnline module extends Learnline to smart phones and tablet devices. This provides staff and students with the ability to:
- Post / contribute to discussion forums
- Post / review announcements posted by their lecturer
- Create / read blogs and interact by posting comments
- Create / read and post information to Journals
- View My Grades from Learnline assessment items
- Review and mark completed tasks
- View a dashboard of aggregated activities
- Post new items and upload attachments to discussions forums
The ability for students to carry on learning and be engaged with their course content away from the classroom, to receive their grades and feedback, work collaboratively with their peers, be in contact with their teachers and maximise 'down time’ when travelling or queuing are just some of the many benefits of mobile learning that those studying at CDU are now able to enjoy.
Similar benefits apply to teaching staff.

Why is this good for CDU?
CDU prides itself on being an innovative and connected institution, and likewise, our students and other members of the University’s community demand up-to-the-minute technology, conveniences and accessibility.
Our community is increasingly gadget-savvy and is looking for more and more of their CDU experience to be available any time, from any place, on any device. As mobile technology continues to grow across the globe, we believe it is important to make Charles Darwin University services and information available through this medium.
CDU Mobile is available for iOS, and Android platforms. The CDU app is also available via the mobile web. Students and staff can download the apps for free in app stores.
